People's Square in Shanghai Huangpu District, formed
in Shanghai after its inception, originally known as
Shanghai Race Course, is held in place at the time the
upper class horse racing and other events. People's
Square in the broad sense is mainly composed of an open
square, People's Park and the surrounding some culture,
tourism, commercial buildings and other components.
People's Square in Shanghai's economic, political and
cultural center, transportation hub, a tourist center,
is one of Shanghai's most important landmarks. The total
area of People's Square in downtown Shanghai reached
140,000 square meters, in the past as a place to meet
people of the city parade, which can accommodate more
than 120 people.
Known as the "urban green lung"
of the People's Square in the city center, is a financial,
administrative, cultural, transportation, commerce as
one of the garden-style plaza. North of Shanghai Municipal
People's Square is the seat of government, the northwest
side of the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the northeastern
part of the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall,
south of Shanghai Museum, People's Avenue crossing them.
Both sides of the square, each with 17-meter-wide green
belt, green total area of 80,000 square meters. In the
situation of reform and opening up, the transformation
of People's Square has become a historical necessity.
People's Square comprehensive renovation project, since
May 1988 subway station started, after six years of
construction, on the eve of the 45th anniversary of
National Day Wonder to expose the people of Shanghai.
People's Square after the transformation has become
a financial and cultural, green and beautify the next
century as one of the political and cultural center
of Shanghai.
